I'm reading "Fireweather" by John Vallient. It is a true story of the Fort McMurray fire in Alberta Canada in 2016. Talk about hell. Fort McMurry is surrounded by the boreal forest and seeping bitumen(tar sands). Maybe I should say was. Haven't gotten to the end yet. And that is what is burning now in Canada, the boreal forest, which is meant to burn. Has black spruce which is quite volatitile.
I think part of Siberia also has boreal forest. The forest rings the planet up there in subalpine areas, like a wreath. Looks like Putin's resources are elsewhere.
