The FOP also hasnt ruled out Winthrop as a site for the Mega Spa. No way they are going to put a building that would be at home in Sun Valley or Jackson Hole in Twisp, especially in such an industrial area of Twisp near the landfill transfer station, the Lloyd logging complex, Larry Smiths recycling and equipment repair and sales, the Twisp lumber yard, multiple storage building etc.
In Winthrop the area of choice would be next to the new ice rink, near the new library, new hotels, Physical Therapy Building, and other tourist infrastructure. All these buildings look nice and all these are right on the Methow trails xc ski and Fatbike Trail system in the valley.
After you're done with a ski take a soak in the Mega Spa.
And we know the mega spa is being built as tourist attraction because of the projected $275,000 per year of revenue in the FOP feasibility study.
Question is what other tourist attractions are they going to build? I speculate the next project will be a Climbing Gym in Mazama to support commercial guiding.
Are the taxpayers now going to fund the commercial tourist industry here?
Also consider as all these tourist attractions are going to increase property values which will generate even more Revenue for the Metropolitan Park District to do as they please without voter input or accountability.
Unfortunately the FOP hasn't been more transparent in their plans even though the claim they will be transparent and accountable once they are in power as highly paid Metropolitan Park District board commissioners.
Vote no on Proposition 1.
