Peter wanted me to post this for him... :D
Also wanted to thank you and all who generously committed there time and effort in the opposition effort ! I've received many thanks from voters not involved but very appreciative and wanted to pass that on to you all. Thanks Peter Larsen.

Interesting that they didn't even get the number of votes that corresponds with the number of signatures on their ballot petition.

I guess voters educated themselves to exactly what a Metropolitan Park District entails and that there is an option choice for elected board members, which of course the FOP didn't choose.

Friends of the Pool - Twisp

Methow Aquatics District Defeated.
The first election results are in and the Methow Aquatics District formation under Proposition 1 failed to pass. The Friends of the Pool Board of Directors will continue to work to support the existing Wagner Pool as long as the Town of Twisp chooses to sustain it. However, with the failure to pass the MV Aquatics District, a governing body and sustainable operations funding for a new facility has no clear path forward.
Thank you for your petition signatures, the good wishes, the conversations with neighbors and friends, the Yes votes, and support of the Wagner Pool over the years, Here’s to making Methow Valley a great, safe place to swim!

I'm glad the FOP so quickly found another plan for the pool. It was there all along. Perhaps increase the swim admission rate structure so those who use the pool will pay for it's use.

I was told earlier by Justin that if prop 1 fails, they would try again and with another MPD no less.

The community has spoken with a loud clear voice, just like in 2014 when another MPD prop was defeated 78% to 22% . I just hope the FOP is listening to the community this time.

Thank you to all the No Voters (and Yes voters too, why not?). I feel like a big weight has been lifted off our shoulders.

For all the yes voters, perhaps donate the money you would have paid in MPD taxes to the FOP had prop 1 passed. Forever, even if you someday don't have the money. Perhaps then you will understand the burden this tax would have been to many members of our community.

Thanks for all your time and $ spent spearheading the effort to defeat such a selfish and poorly thought out proposal, Ray.

I am happy that we were able to put out the true facts regarding Proposition 1 and let the informed voters make their own decisions. That is the way it should be.

Thank you all for your support and help in defeating this ill conceived Proposition.

P.S. FOTP... Notice that the Tonasket Parks and Recreation District (not a MPD) who have a SUCCESSFUL pool also has an ELECTED Board!!!
I believe Tonasket is also not a Metropolitan Park District which is a powerful municipality with the least amount of voter control of the three recreational district types in Wa. Of course the FOP thinks that because they hired an outside consulting agency, and had "overwhelming" community support from within their select group of supporters for the Mega MAC that it was the right choice. I hope that the FOP now realizes that false narratives and scare tactics don't appeal to local voters.

Transparency and facts matter. The were short of both.
Scare tactics don't work

Ray, The hospital levy needs 60% of the vote to pass, which it doesn’t look like it will get.

I see this early result against the Mega MAC as a vote against rural gentrification here in the Methow Valley and a vote against greed.

It's a vote for a strong community.

2200 is a fair chunk of the votes... FOTP message/plan getting killed... Looking VERY GOOD!!!

EMS District total votes in 2022 was 3038

Light turnout...
No more numbers until Nov 9th 5pm

P.S. FOTP... Notice that the Tonasket Parks and Recreation District (not a MPD) who have a SUCCESSFUL pool also has an ELECTED Board!!!

Besides live stream is there another site to see results. Would it be the election or auditor's site?
