Re: Property Tax

The legislature is also trying to get a state income tax passed, that's on top of the retail sales tax we already have. Most states have one or the other, NOT BOTH. Property tax is one of the most regressive taxes we have. You are taxed on an amount you have never sold your house for, and those folks who do not own property vote on what is to be added to property tax. Then there's all the added hospital assessments, school, fire, etc. And by the way, if you think you own your property, just miss a few years property taxes and watch your property put up for sale for back taxes.

The state is supposed to pay for public school education, but had to be sued and lose in court to finally start coughing up the money for schools. And by the way, the people passed legal gambling decades ago with the promise that the gambling money was going to pay for schools--never happened. And the schools continue to ask for more money via levies on, you guessed it, property tax. If the state is so broke why was governor Inslee politicking to send millions to Israel?

Governments are crappy at managing money. They spend everything they get and always want more.

This bill is back #5770. The bill will allow up to a 3% property tax increase. The claim is government doesn't have enough money to operate. Well either do we. Best if you start dancing your fingers across the key board. This money grab in Olympia is just crazy stupid. https://app.leg.wa.gov/pbc/bill/5770
