I'm going to move my reply to the above to a "Civil War???" thread in politics.

Just my $0.02: the right-wingers who claim that a civil war is coming ought to consider that their own side's inability to cooperate or make sacrifices for the common good, even when they are in their own best interest, is a profound weakness going into a fight.

And as Sun Tzu pointed out, you defeat an enemy by attacking them where they are weakest, not strongest.

Right about Amazon. Have never done Prime and don't intend to, even with the free trial. Once they get you I bet it's hard to cancel the free trial. I don't always know who the shipper will be. If they accept a PO box I try to go that route in the winter.
You do have to be careful with the "ringers" as you say. I didn't know what they were called. I've gotten discerning and shop carefully. I do look at the ratings on other companies going through Amazon. Of course I realize some of those could be fake.
I don't order much food product. I try not to order anything without checking locally first.

Walmart has good food deals also... But they use FedEx for shipping which is a problem in the Methow Valley right now.

I have been buying non-perishable staples on Amazon (and from others) for years.

I will still volunteer to get your refrigerated items if you need help... I have no problem shopping there. :-)
