Impacts of climate on the forests are becoming worse every year. This study of both Oregon and Washington found the heat & drought is killing off as many trees as the wildfires are.

Trees retaining their leaves still

As I drive around the valley it's been unnerving to notice a change in so many of the trees that normally by this time of year are branch skeletons with their leaves long gone. I asked a local friend who is a master gardner what was going on and got the answer that between the higher Co2 levels, prolonged wildfire smoke and drought our trees are under stress from climate change. Another friend in a discussion we had online found this article/abstract that makes some interesting observations.
