The $0.18 per $1,000 levy of the Tonasket Park District covers not only the pool, but the expenses of other town parks as well. I wish FOP was less greedy. Replacing the Wagner Pool seems like such an easy proposition.

The Tonasket model should be a Methow community rallying cry.

According to the feasibility study, the proposed methow aquatic center advocated by Proposition 1 proponents performs annually as follows --

Expenses $ 895,285
Revenues $ 332,190
Difference $ (563,095)
Recovery % 37%

What we, the voters, do not have is a comparable analysis of a simple, appropriately-scaled outdoor facility where the community can hold swim lessons and enjoy the excellent summer weather.

Proposition 1 is a mess.

Tonasket Park and Recreation District

Tonasket Park and Recreation District...

Not a Metropolitan Park District

Not a permanent taxing authority levy... Six year cycle with voter approval. Did you know that .18 per thousand translates to $18 per year if you own a $100,000 home?

No tax dollars used to build the pool - Tonasket Community Pool is a million dollar facility donated to the Community by the Community? Your support of the levy allows us to maintain the pool.

No appointed Board... Tonasket Park and Recreation District commissioners are volunteers

Did you know it costs $80K to run the pool each year and $20K is received each year through admissions. The Tonasket Park and Recreation District covers the remaining cost of operating a pool..
