Ray, FOP made a post on the other BB and I copied and pasted into the other post here about the BB Pool Disscussion. I of course, did a refutation.

"From Wa. Secretary of State
To register to vote in Washington State, you must be a resident of the state.
You must establish your voting residency address at least 30 days before Election Day. You may specify a mailing address that is different from your residential address.
You may only be registered to vote at one location, even if you own multiple residences. If you move or are temporarily away, you may maintain your voter registration at that address until you register to vote elsewhere."

I talked to one vacation home owner in Mazama who hadn't even heard about this ballot issue. Two more no votes.
This is worth pursuing getting the word out.

I think that if registering vacation home owner voters in this County benefit the FOP, they would have a big campaign to get the word out to those voters. Is that happening?
Plus, once on the ballet, everyone who is effected by this boondoggle should vote.
There is no 6 month requirement if you are a Wa State resident.

If you have a nontraditional address, such as a motor home or transitional housing, your voting residence is the physical location at the time you register to vote. You may list a different address for your mailing address.
If you are a United States citizen living abroad, you may use your last Washington address. If you have never lived in the country, you may use the last address of your parents or other family member.
Even if you are living outside of Washington State, you will retain your residency if you are:
employees in the civil or military service of the state or of the United States;
living overseas;
attending college or any institution of learning; or
confined in any public prison.
You may maintain your voter registration in Washington State until you register to vote elsewhere.

Having them register to vote here, could backfire. If they are wealthy they can afford to help pay for a mega luxery aquatics center. On the other hand some do have their own pools, so why would they want to pay more in taxes. So we have to take our chances and hope they do the right thing.
If there is a 6 months requirement, then it is too late to vote this November.

What happened to the 6 month residency reqirement for voter registration? Do we really want those that seem to have mega bucks and 2 or 3 vacation homes, that also rent them out for 250.00 to 500.00 per night, voting to decide how much permanent residents pay in taxes?

I was informed by the Okanogan County Auditor's office that the online registration process has a place to edit your address if you're an existing registered voter. Someone registered in Seattle that has a vacation home in Mazama for example, would just need to simply change their address to their Okanogan County address within this school district, and enter voter ID information at this link below.

Or you can do this by mail or in person as described in the first post.
If you own property here and don't have a physical address for that property, you would have to first set up a physical address with the County Planning Department.
Otherwise you will be significantly taxed on your property value, if the MPD Aquatic Center proposition passes, without a chance to even vote on that proposition in November.

Ray, could you pin this?
Please get the word out to vacation homeowners or non-registered voters that they need to register, in Okanogan County, in order to vote on this pool tax issue ,ie the formation of a Metropolitan Park District, on November 7th general election.
By mail registration. A Washington state voter registration form can be picked up at your local county auditor's office.
Voters can also register online up 8 days prior to election day.
"Online and mail registrations must be received 8 days before Election Day. Register to vote in person during business hours and any time before 8:00 p.m. on Election Day"
Register to vote if you are not currently registered. The next election is August 1st so if you want to register for the November election ignore the window that says deadline to register has passed for this next election. Start with this window and if you're not registered it will take you to the registration window.

I will post this when I find out or call Washington state Secretary of State office at.
